Summertime Maintenance Tips For Your Vehicle

summertime maintenance tips

It’s summertime! We’ve had cooler than normal temperatures so far, but we all know what’s coming—those hot summer days! (And summer nights, unfortunately for some!)

The heat affects our cars too. Here are three things you should pay attention to in order to keep you and your family in safe vehicles this summer.

1. Check Your Windshield Wipers.

Check out your windshield wipers and change them out if necessary. We do have these here at the shop if you need them. The reason we bring this up is that this has been one of the wettest years we’ve ever seen! It feels like it’s been raining at least once or twice a week! If you’re driving in the rain and your windshield wipers are not up to snuff, that can be dangerous. Make sure you’re checking your wipers out!

2. A/C Checks.

The last thing you want is to wait until it’s 110 degrees to find out your air conditioner has issues! We have proactive A/C checks in both our McKinney and Frisco shops. We want you to be aware that we can also service cars that have the new freon in their air conditioning system. Not all shops are able to do this yet. We can service machines with the new R1234YF freon. If you’re not sure if this applies to you, we have a list of vehicles that use the new freon on our Facebook page.

3. General Maintenance.

So many of the issues with engine problems can be prevented just by keeping up with your routine maintenance! Get your owner’s manual out of your glove box and see what maintenance you need to catch up on. If you can do it all, that’s great! If you can only do it little by little, that’s fine too. As long as you keep up with your general maintenance your car will last a lot longer, and more importantly, it will keep you and your family on the road in a safe vehicle!
