3 Commitments All Drivers Should Make To Their Vehicles

1. Fill it up!

Fill up your gas tank all the way. We’ve probably all had a time or two in our lives where we just put a little bit of gas in the car, as little as we could get away with. We understand this problem! But it’s actually not good for your vehicle to put just a little bit of gas in the tank. Whenever possible it’s much better to fill your tank all the way up.

2. Change the oil on time.

Yes, on time! If you’ve been following us for a while you know how we feel about maintenance. And you know that when you bring your car in for an oil change we do a 21-point inspection which will catch any brewing problem spots that you might not have noticed yet. If you’re a customer of ours you know that when we find something we’re not going to push you into fixing it—we’re going to give you the information and you’re going to decide when or if. We all tend to get busy and put off those oil changes, but this year is going to be different—right? Let’s commit to getting that oil change every 3,000-5,000 miles!

3. Just say no to idling.

This is the year we are going to stop idling. We’re going to stop waiting in a long drive-through and carpool lines, if possible. But idling is terrible for your vehicles! It is terrible for your engine! It’s so much better to park your car and go into the coffee shop or fast food place. If you have to do your school’s car line, you can always turn your engine off if you know you’re not going to be moving for a while. Or, come at the tail end of the car line so that you’ll have less waiting. We know this can’t work for everyone, but if at all possible, try not to idle your engine for long periods of time.

If you can do these three things, we are pretty confident that you’ll have a happy, healthy vehicle!
